This vintage novelty handkerchief is a tourism souvenir promoting “Les Grisons”; the largest state in Switzerland. It is signed Dessin Depose who made hankies, scarves and table linens in the 1950’s and were printed by the Swiss company Kreier. In researching Dessin Depose I found a lot of fun pieces with subjects like “How to Fight Insomnia”, recipes for classic cocktails, and “How to get a Husband” – all charmingly illustrated.
This handkerchief lists Swiss attractions for sports such as skiing, golf, and camping with some words of advice. Beneath a list of local dishes in French it says “don’t bother getting a translation…just eat it!”
